Infrastructure issues are prevalent throughout all of Medford and our streets and roads continue to deteriorate. Additional costs are incurred by residents through wear and tear on cars and bikes and pedestrians aren’t safe crossing the street.
There are many examples of crosswalks are not properly or obviously marked - and pedestrian accidents will continue to occur if we don’t take action.
The city should conduct another pedestrian safety audit with WalkMassachusetts to identify high incident areas and begin to address specific needs across all of Medford’s busiest streets and intersections.
More funding should be allocated to repairing the many potholes and torn up streets throughout Medford; especially during the winter when sidewalks become impassible for both walkers and those on wheels
Allow for more protected bike lanes and bike parking zones throughout the city

Even though some movement has been made on making the budget more transparent, there are still many questions on how Medford is utilizing its funding and ensuring we are addressing the most pressing issues of the community.
More transparent approach to the budgeting process and understanding of Medford’s most pressing needs
Ongoing presentations to the community on capital needs and long-term budgetary goals of the city - not just during the “budgeting season” but held as a constant throughout the year
Holding the City accountable for its spending - and where it is not utilizing funds allocated to departments - to ensure that dollars are being put in the right places.
With an advanced degree in financial management, coupled with my two decades worth of experience building revenue streams and allocating funding - I can bring a keen eye to identify areas of opportunity within the budget and ways to better utilize our funds

Driving revenue and building out more funding opportunities should continue to be a top priority for our City.
Providing incentives for more businesses to feel welcome in Medford - and to keep small businesses in our squares and making the permitting process for new businesses easier to navigate and understand
Researching new grant opportunities to provide more funding for targeted projects throughout the City
Continued growth of our nonprofit and community partners to help off-set costs of projects that are mission aligned
Additional look at Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) opportunities throughout the city with our current partners

We need to ensure that more money is being allocated to critical services and needs of the community.
More mental health counselors to offer support to residents and to join law enforcement when they encounter high risk situations.
Our Library serves as a critical meeting area for Medford - being able to pay our librarians - both part and full time - competitively and fund their Head of Programming position to continue growing the Library’s many programmatic offerings that they provide the community.
Better communication of the work from each of the city’s committees - what has been accomplished, what are the goals and what are the current needs - and more transparency around ways any Medford resident can join, learn and contribute to city committees
Allow for caretakers to be more involved with the Council on Aging and for our seniors. Oftentimes it is a family member who has to navigate complicated systems to provide support for their aging parents. The Council on Aging should allow for people younger than 60 to join - help find new ways to reach seniors’ family members who provide care - to understand, learn and access much needed services.
Continue to partner with other resources like SHINE, Meals on Wheels, and additional programs to ensure the needs of Medford seniors and families are being met.

Help collaborate with the City as they begin drafting the next Medford Open Space and Recreation strategic plan, with the latest version completing in 2026.
